Eric Hogensen

Owner and Principal

Eric Hogensen brings a wide range of political campaign and public sector experience to the job, combining the unique set of skills that come from helping people get elected and then helping them serve with distinction.

Over the past two years, Eric founded and developed HSG, guiding candidates across the country to victory. Accomplishments include the upset victories for Nik Kovac, Milwaukee’s 3rd District Alderman, who won by 72 votes in a race with almost 10,000 voters; and Anita Alvarez, Cook County’s first female, Hispanic State’s Attorney, who beat five opponents in her primary. From New York City to Louisiana, HSG has created winning strategies for all levels of campaigns.

In 2006, Eric steered first-time candidate Dr. Steve Kagen to an upset victory in Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District. Eric helped Dr. Kagen defeat two better-known candidates in the primary, then countered a multi-million dollar campaign run by the opponent’s national party to prevail in the 2006 fall campaign.

Eric has worked at all levels of the political world, from presidential races, to statewide campaigns, to school board races. In 2003 and 2004, he worked in South Carolina as field director for Gen. Wesley Clark’s presidential campaign.

In 2004, Eric managed Matt Flynn’s congressional race in Milwaukee. In 2003, he served as field director for Bruce Lundsford’s gubernatorial campaign in Kentucky.

From Massachusetts, to Illinois, to Nevada, Eric has helped create and implement winning strategies for state lawmakers, judicial candidates, state Democratic parties, non-profit organizations, and leading service unions. With a B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Eric has also served as district director for Wisconsin State Senator Jeff Plale.
